Funeral Protest Law

Alabama now has a law limiting protests at funerals.

Gov. Robert Bentley signed a bill mandating that
demonstrators stay at least 1,000 feet away from funerals. That's the equivalent of about two blocks.

Lawmakers passed the legislation unanimously during the session earlier this year.

The law is in response to disruptions by the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church, which travels the nation staging demonstrations at funerals for U.S. troops and others.

Members claim God kills Americans because the nation tolerates homosexuality.

Church members have protested at several funerals in Alabama, including those for U.S. troops, a slain Auburn University student and a victim of a school bus crash in Huntsville.

House Speaker Mike Hubbard says it's a shame such a law is needed.

I hate when they say this fool is from MS. The whole family is crazy. I have never hit a woman but I would love to stick my fist down his daughter mouth.

I am surprised that some people have not heard of this group. If you watched fox news you would have. liberal media will not cover such things. the things that the westbouro church does can make a normal person justify going to prison. these people do not need the law to protect them or the law to keep people from acting on them. they are the kind of people who should be impailed on stakes and lined down the road for people to look at. if communitys got togather in a mass mob and surpressed the law and swamped these people, they would be doing the country a favor. there comes a time when extream measures are needed to say enough is enough

Those people, and I use the word people just to be nice on this page, need to be banned from going into any state that is having a funeral for a fallen Hero. God gave us these brave warriors to protect those same protesters. Without our military those same protesters would not have the rights that they are using to protest in the first place! So, thank you to our soldiers (HEROS) and their families for being brave enough to fight for all of us. Most of all, I thank God for blessing us with such brave and wonderful men and women to take care of us!

It is sad that we need laws to protect the dead. Maybe the protesters will get life in jail.

Now this is a disgrace to the human race. Why would anyone with half a brain protest at a funeral? Can they at least respect the love ones mourning the dead. I dont think they were protesting when our troops lost their lives to protect their freedom. Senseless waste of time, they need to find something else to do.
