The Meridian City Council will hold a meeting Monday to address the ongoing historic district controversy. That meeting will be held Monday at 5:30 p.m. on the second floor of Union Station.
Mayor Cheri Barry Thursday vetoed a moratorium that had been approved by a three-to-two vote by the city council earlier this week.
The moratorium prohibited the issuance of commercial building permits within the Poplar Springs Historic District. In all, 100 blocks were affected.
The moratorium was prompted by an effort to open a Dollar General store on 24th Avenue at Poplar Springs Drive.
