Earlier this month Chief Lee Shelbourn announced his retirement. His last day on the job is this Saturday, June 30th.
"I feel great. I've been here three years. I actually tried to do the right thing and make a positive difference for Meridian. I do care,' says Shelbourn.
When Chief Shelbourn retires he will end a long career in law enforcement. He spent the last three years as chief of police in Meridian. Previously, he had worked as chief of the Petal Police Department. Prior to that, he spent 26 years training officers for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety. Ten of those years were with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics.
