The flag-draped casket of former Gov. Kirk Fordice was on public display in the Capitol rotunda in Jackson Thursday. The funeral is Friday at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Jackson. Burial will be in Madison County.
Family members followed the casket into the building as it was carried by a Highway Patrol honor guard, including some of the same state troopers who once served on Fordice's security detail.
Fordice, a Republican, served two full terms as governor, the maximum allowed under Mississippi law, from January 1992 to January 2000.
Fordice died Tuesday of complications of leukemia. He was 70.
