The fatal shooting of a 54-year-old Lauderdale County man in is under investigation by the sheriff's department.
Medical Examiner Marl Cobler says Donnie Gay died yesterday at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center after being shot in the chest earlier in the day. Cobler says an autopsy had been ordered.
The sheriff's department is holding a man for questioning about the shooting. Sheriff's department Major Ward Calhoun declined today to disclose the man's name, citing an investigation.
