A Meridian business has donated the use of several hotel rooms, to help firefighters, police officers, and deputies to have a relaxing stay away from everyday stress. Hotel owner Abdul Lala sponsored a drawing to make the rooms available.

"This occasion shows that we are part of mainstream America," said Lala. "This has put us all on one platform together. We want to show that we in Meridian are together, too."

Lala said firefighters and law enforcement officers make daily sacrifices and they deserve a break. He owns Comfort Inn, Econo Lodge, Quality Inn, and Budget Eight here in Meridian.
