An inmate escaped Friday afternoon from the Lauderdale County Detention Facility.
John Sims, 26, of Meridian, was being held on charges of burglary and credit card fraud, as well as a probation violation.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Billy Sollie said a missing walkie-talkie may have been used by the inmate to gain his freedom around 12:45 p.m.
Sollie said Sims has never been charged with a violent crime, but anyone on the run could be dangerous.
Call 917-8888 if you have information on Sims' whereabouts.
