An 18-year-old from Waynesboro died Friday night in northern Clarke County.
Mississippi Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Ronnie Carter said Jonathan Brooks Morris was a passenger in a car that crashed about 11:30 p.m. on Highway 145, a half mile north of Quitman.
The driver, Blair Griffin, 17, of Rose Hill, apparently veered off the road and lost control.
The highway patrol said Griffin was treated and released.
Carter said there was no alcohol involved in the one vehicle mishap.
Troop H is also trying to identify two occupants found Saturday inside a burned vehicle on Interstate 20.
The car was discovered about 6:30 a.m. Saturday morning, a mile west of Morton. The vehicle had California plates but any identification inside was destroyed by the fire.
The MHP hopes medical records will verify the couple's identities.
