The contract for the Cooper Community Development in Meridian has been received and is being studied by Mayor John Robert Smith, his staff and the city's legal counsel.
Smith said there are some points of difference but he believes they will be worked out.
"The contract, we'll make our changes, get them to Cooper and I think we're probably looking at an October date now would be the earliest," said Smith. "I don't think there's a stopper in the contract. I don't think the contract is in jeopardy. As a matter of fact cooper officials will be in in the coming two weeks to continue to work on the project."
The mayor said it was work on the city budget that delayed the study of the Cooper agreement.
