Council Affirms New Chief

The city of York has a new police chief.

This week the city council formally accepted the resignation of Chief Toby Fitch.

Officer Ricky Thomas was promoted to the position of chief. Thomas had been serving as interim chief, since Fitch turned in his resignation earlier this month.

Meanwhile, also at this week's meeting, former assistant chief Deon Nelson was appointed York's public safety director.
