There was another bump in the road for the new industrial park. The choice of an engineer for the interstate interchange, that would provide access, has come under fire.
The city selected the firm of Engineering Associates to do the work. However, possible mistakes by the selection committee have left the city open to attack.
"Now a days anyone can sue anyone, so I don't know," said Meridian's chief administrative officer, Ken Storms. "But I believe the city is in a good position."
Storms added that he does not believe anything improper took place during or after the evaluation process was conducted by a committee.
But further delay on the project could put needed federal dollars out of reach. Without that, the future of the industrial park would be in doubt. The park was approved for $1 million in federal funding.
