Governor Blankets State

With the Mississippi Legislature scheduled to reconvene in Jackson Oct. 7 in a special session, the last two days has been like campaign stops for Mississippi's governor.

Ronnie Musgrove's message has been the issue of medical malpractice insurance. The governor walked into a room full of medical professionals in meridian Friday afternoon, as he's been doing in other cities across the state. He's looking to drum up support and get something done in what is being called one of the most critical issues the state has ever faced.

The legislature is split over how to deal with malpractice suits. Suits that skyrocket insurance costs for doctors. Some say it is driving many doctors from the state and makes it nearly impossible to recruit new doctors.

Despite what may or may not happen in the special session, Gov. Musgrove said Friday he won't allow the issue to be dropped.
