Five years ago, a black man in a Confederate uniform carrying a Confederate battle flag garnered attention in a walk across the south.
H.K. Edgerton is doing a 5-year reunion march now. He came into Lauderdale County Thursday on Highway 80 and then into Meridian.
Edgerton, who is now president of a group called Southern Heritage 411, said he wants to bring attention to the place of honor and dignity that black people earned under the Confederate emblem.
"We're all over the world talking about reconstruction and ending hate between sections of people, the Palestinians and the Jews, when this war continues to exist right here in the southland of America," said Edgerton. "And people need to restore the dignity and honor of the Christian white folks and the Christian black folks here in the southland of America."
Edgerton says his organization wants to inform the public about southern heritage from the perspective of the hundreds of thousands of black people who love and support the south and its history.

Everyone has a hero and as a soldier in the todays Military who came back from Iraq last year, HK is my hero. GOD BLESS HK, one of many Southern Black folks who support the Southern heritage. The Southern Heritage isn't just for us white folks, it belongs to ALL Southerners.
I had the privilege of being one of your financial supporters in your prior walk. I wonder if this opportunity still exists for your current walk? If so, who do I contact?
I admire Mr. Edgerton. He stands up for his rights and the Christian flag.
