A jury on Tuesday found Cuba, Ala., police chief Chris Vaughn not guilty.
He was indicted in the fall of 2003 for assault, resulting from a July 17,
2003, shooting, which injured Anthony Collins, 19.
Collins was shot four times along Highway 80 near his home in Cuba. The incident happened shortly after Collins' stepfather, Cassimity Walker, 45, was found shot to death at his home.
Collins was charged in that shooting. Vaughn had been on paid leave from the department pending the trial.
