To many the Queen City now probably feels more like the windy city as Ol' Man Winter whips through the area. However, it's not alone. Frigid temperatures are causing people to bundle up as they head out.
Aside from protecting yourself, there are some other precautions that you need to remember. Often referred to as the four Ps, in weather like this you must also remember to protect your Pipes, your Pets, your Plants and your Property.
Let's begin with pipes. First, you should wrap all pipes outside to shield them from freezing. Residents are also advised to slightly drip faucets inside, especially at night when temperatures often dip to their coldest.
Next to pets and plants. Just as we cannot endure extreme cold, neither can they. That's why you are advised to bring them inside or at least cover those that are left outdoors.
Finally, remember to protect you property. This can be anything from a car to a truck or even a tractor. It is this time of year when keeping them filled with anti-freeze is so important. After all, anti-freeze does just what it says, it prevents freezing. This is something that is important to know as things get a little frosty!
