Kids Ready to Move On Up

Meridian public schools' Parents As Teachers Program and Frank Berry Courts Pre-K Program held the First Annual Fall Festival Friday.

While it was a fun day with games like a bean bag toss and fishing for treats, the purpose was to help the children.

"Parents as teachers works with babies, birth to (age) three, so we have three-year-olds who will be exiting our program, hopefully going into the pre-k program," said Parents As Teachers coordinator, Gretchen Luvene. "And this provides them an opportunity to see what a structured classroom setting looks like and they can interact with the four-year-olds today for a happy, fun day."

Funding from the Riley Foundation and Phil Hardin Foundation helps provide pre-kindergarten classes at Frank Berry Courts.
