Cong. Chip Pickering announced Tuesday that $500,000 will be provided
to the city of Newton next year.
The grant money will be used for wastewater improvements and provide a backup water supply for the industrial park.
Pickering made the appeal for federal assistance earlier this year.
The House appropriations committee will consider the bill Wednesday.
It will then await passage by the full House of Representatives before
it can be conferenced with the Senate version and signed by the President.
