State lawmakers in Jackson are still debating a medical malpractice bill. They are trying to decide how financial responsibility will be divided.

Doctors want a law saying that defendants would have to pay only their share of malpractice awards.

A plaintiff's attorney says such a proposal could leave innocent victims without money to cover their injuries.
