The Emmett Till Justice Campaign is pushing for prosecution in Emmett Till's 1955 slaying.

In August 1955, an all-white jury acquitted Roy Bryant and J.W. Milam of killing Till.

Afterward, a jury foreman said that jurors believed the state failed to prove it was Till's body. Defense attorneys suggested to jurors the body had been planted.

The sheriff said publicly Till was still alive. Several months later, Bryant and Milam confessed to Look magazine they had indeed beaten and shot Till because the 14-year-old visiting from Chicago had wolf-whistled at Bryant's wife.

With a state-federal investigation now underway, any possible prosecution would have to prove the body was Till's.
