First Christian Church of Meridian has launched its 42nd annual Kentucky Ham Meal, a traditional fundraiser for its community outreach projects.
"We started in 1963 with Dr. and Mrs. Apperson. Started with 50 pounds of ham they picked up in Mayfield, Kentucky, and they brought it down and now we're serving 1,000 pounds of ham this year, and it goes toward 10 local charities," said the Rev. Tom Sikes, pastor of First Christian Church.
Along with the ham, the meal includes red-eye gravy and biscuits.
The Kentucky Ham Meal will be served again Wednesday from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
