Former U.S. Congressman G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery was hospitalized in Meridian, but hospital officials said he might be released over the weekend.
The 84-year-old was taken to Jeff Anderson Medical Center in Meridian where tests were done, but the hospital could not discuss the results due to privacy laws.
The head of marketing for the hospital, Ann Weddington, said Montgomery was in good condition.
Montgomery served in Congress 30 years. Since retiring in 1996, he's headed a consulting firm in Washington and worked in Meridian.
While in Congress, the Democrat was chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee. He sponsored the Montgomery G.I. Bill, which was passed in 1984 and helps soldiers pay for college.
