Hospital officials say retired Cong. G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery is doing well after being hospitalized. He was released from Jeff Anderson Medical Center Saturday. He was hospitalized last Thursday.
Montgomery served in Congress 30 years before retiring in 1996. While in Congress, he chaired the House Veteran's Affairs Committee. He sponsored the Montgomery G.I Bill, which was passed in 1984. That bill still helps soldiers pay for college.
