Gov. Ronnie Musgrove is seeking $15.3 million in federal aid to help pay for damage done by Tropical Storm Isidore.

Mississippi Emergency Management agency director Robert Latham said he expects a quick response from President Bush, perhaps as early as Tuesday.

The state requested:

  • $2 million for small business and other types of loans
  • $6.6 million for private home owners and renters
  • $6.7 million for public assistance needs, including damaged roads and bridges and overtime for emergency workers

Latham said officials are trying to see if they can keep the request open-ended, in case Tropical Storm Lili, which is now near Cuba, causes damage in Mississippi.
