At Northwest Junior High, they were planting, weeding and mulching. At Love's Kitchen, they were feeding the hungry. And at the Meridian Museum of Art, they were helping make crafts for an upcoming children's event.
MCC students were all over town Thursday, trying to make the city a little brighter. This is the fifth year for the annual My College Cares Day.
MCC officials said it's a great way to teach students to take part in their community. Those getting the help said it was much needed and appreciated.
Most of the students do get extra credit for taking part in the event, but they said the most important thing they're getting is a lesson on the importance of giving back to the community.
