The Mississippi Legislature has gone home for the weekend.

The only tort reform still alive at the capitol is one designed to give some protection to banks in civil lawsuits.

State rep. Ed Blackmon said banks and other lending institutions sought the bill because of fears that hundreds of pending lawsuits threatened their solvency.

The Senate returns to work at 3 p.m. Monday. The house returns later on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
