Alabama Republican, Sen. Richard Shelby and Sen. Byron Dorgan, a Democrat from North Dakota, introduced legislation Thursday that would ease the financial burden on military reservists and their families.
The measure would provide some financial relief for military reservists on active duty.
"The legislation that Sen. Dorgan and I introduced today would create a tax credit up to $20,000 that would enable some of the families to recoup some of the money that they've lost when they've gone on active duty," said Sen. Shelby. "I believe that's the least thing we can do to help maintain the families and strengthen America."
Shelby said the United States owes a debt to those who wear the uniform.
