The Mississippi National Guard announced Thursday the deaths of two soldiers serving with the 155th Brigade Combat Team in the Middle East.
Spc. Joseph A. Rahaim, 22, of Laurel, Miss., and Sgt. Timothy Osbey, 29, of Magnolia, Miss., died Feb. 16, when their vehicle rolled over into a canal after the roadway collapsed. The incident is under investigation.
Rahaim was assigned to Detachment 1, Company A, 155th Infantry in Mendenhall. Osbey was assigned to Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry in McComb.
"This is a sad moment for the citizens of Mississippi," said Gov. Haley Barbour. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to their families."
The Mississippi National Guard has lost eight soldiers in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
