Lauderdale County deputies and Mississippi Highway Patrol officers were among those honored Friday for enforcement of the state's child passenger restraint laws.
State Trooper Jeffrey Willis, who works in Neshoba County for Troop H, was second in the state with 316 citations.
A total of six officers with Troop H received awards at the ceremony in Richland.
Lauderdale County Deputy Gypsi Ward placed third in the state with 207 citations.
"We don't do this for the awards. We don't do this for the money. You know, if I saved one child's life by writing 206 child restraints, it was worth it," said Deputy Gypsi Ward.
Mississippi law calls for a ticket to be issued on a driver for any child not properly restrained in his or her vehicle.
