Six children, ages three to 12, died in the Oct. 19 fire that apparently started when a candle burned down. Authorities say the children were home alone at the time.
District Attorney James Powell said he won't name any suspects until after an arrest warrant or warrants are issued. He said the person or persons responsible will face one manslaughter charge for each child that died. The charges are based on child neglect.
The whereabouts of the children's mothers, Angela Williams and Carolyn Williams, has been a key question in the ongoing investigation of the fire.
Meanwhile, the only surviving child, four-month-old Takalay Williams, remains in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Human Services Friday, according to agency spokeswoman Pamela Confer.
