More street paving got underway again Friday in Meridian. Public works director Monty Jackson said cold weather during the last part of December and early January delayed the paving.
Part of the work was on Poplar Springs Drive, which Jackson said has presented some challenges.
"We've taken excessive asphalt that's been placed on the streets over the years with overlays. That excess amount of asphalt has eliminated a lot of the curb and gutter sections that were along those roads, which are supposed to control the water flow down the streets and channel them into the inlets that are along the street," said Jackson.
Work was also done on 22nd Street between 23rd and 25th Avenues. Traffic had to be reduced to one lane.
