Recent statewide crime statistics indicate that Meridian is Mississippi's safest city.
Assistant Police Chief Keith McCary reported to the city council Tuesday.
"We're looking at several cities that we rate with: Hattiesburg, Greenville, Jackson, Tupelo, Biloxi and Gulfport," said McCary. "And we're the lowest. We're doing something right."
McCary Pledged to continue efforts to make Meridian safer in the future.
