The Veterans of Foreign Wars now has a drop box donated by the U.S. Postal Service. It provides a safe place to bring old and damaged American flags.
Veterans ask if you have one to bring it to them so that it may be retired in the proper way.
"We're not open all the time and this way people can pull up in here, just drop the flags off and go on their way," said Chuck McElroy, a member of VFW Post 79. "And we encourage them to take care of these flags. When they're old, let us have them and we'll dispose of them according to the regulations of how they're supposed to be disposed of."
VFW Post 79 is located on old Highway 80 near Meridian Community College.
