For the past two days several teachers and professors from the Ukraine have been on the campus. Their visit is part of an exchange program through the Alabama Center for Law and Civic Education.
Their mission, to learn how to develop curriculum to teach civic education.
"What we like most here was that students can choose their teachers here. In the Ukraine students have the same teacher from grades one to eleven," said Ukrainian Professor and Author Volodymyr Gorbatenko "In the past in the Ukraine, they've been primarily lecturing. The teacher stands before the calls and lectures. The students take notes. There's not really any interaction. After this trip they are hoping to have more interaction and give the students more responsibility to think about constitutional and democratic ideas."
Tuesday afternoon the professors traveled to Birmingham. They will return to the Ukraine later this month.
