Meridian's mayoral race is heating up and one of the candidates is getting out his message.
Jimmie Smith met with supporters Thursday night at his newly-opened campaign headquarters at 818 21st Avenue.
"We talked about public safety, drainage issues. We talked about issues that concern the people of the city. We talked about jobs, industry. We talked about things that connect people, and we want to see people put meat and potatoes on the table for families in this community," Smith said.
Smith is currently a Lauderdale County supervisor, representing District 2. He joins incumbent John Robert Smith, businessman Wally Hudnall, and radio personality Harrison Lewis in the mayor's race.
