The Meridian School Board continued efforts to comply with the Fair Labor Standards Act at its Nov. 18 meeting.

Some hourly employees have requested they be paid on a 12-month method, instead of the current nine months.

"The board hired Joseph Adams from Jackson," said John Compton,
"who specializes in employment law. And has a great amount of experience in this area."

The pay spread out over three additional months would lower the employees' hourly salary. But, law cannot reduce it lower than $5.15 per hour.
