Employee Assistance Available

The U.S. Department of Labor will assist former Wells-Lamont employees who were laid off when the company's Waynesboro plant closed in May 2002.

The worker adjustment assistance helps employees who lose their jobs as a result of foreign imports. The plant produced leather and textile gloves.

Rep. Gene Taylor said Wells-Lamont is the latest of dozens of textile and apparel plants in Mississippi that have been forced to close because of what he calls bad trade policy.
