Letter carriers all over the Meridian area will be picking up food Saturday.
They will be doing so during the postal service's national campaign to "stamp out hunger food drive."
Over the past 10 years of the event, 125 pounds of food has been collected locally.
"This is an easy way to give back to the community and it will mount up," said Frank Polizzi of the U.S. Postal Service.
Everyone is asked to place non-perishable items by their mailboxes for pickup on Saturday. All of the food collected will go to the Victory Outreach Organization, Wesley House and the Salvation Army.
