An instructor at the Naval Technical Training Center at Naval Air Station Meridian was presented the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal in a Friday ceremony at the base.
Senior Chief Dino Medler was recognized for helping redesign the religious program curriculum and reducing the time needed to train.
He is the 2004 senior enlisted instructor of the year for the entire Navy.
"It's kind of overwhelming in the sense that, you know, you realize that someone out there saw the techniques that I use as an instructor and said that's what the ideal instructor is. To be selected from Navy-wide with the quality of instructors we have, it just kind of blows me away," said Medler.
Medler's program changes ultimately saved $144,000 a year in program training costs.
