New Road for Nissan?

Madison County supervisors want to see a highway corridor that links the Nissan plant near Canton and its suppliers in Vicksburg.

The Madison County Board of Supervisors has adopted a resolution endorsing the construction of a limited-access road between Canton on I-55 and Edwards on I-20.

Board president David Richardson says the corridor will aid economic development.

Central Mississippi Highway Commissioner Dick Hall says the project could provide the first leg of a loop road around the Jackson metro area.

Hall said a similar corridor project on Mississippi 43 between Pelahatchie on I-20 and Canton on I-55 is a possible second leg to the northeast.
