For this year's Christmas Parade local Marines are asking the public to do a little something different.
This year they are asking parade watchers to bring a toy for the annual "Toys for Tots" campaign.
"We're going to have a float and the deputies and Marines will walk beside it," said Staff Sgt. Gilbert Ramon of the U.S. Marine Corps. "
We're going to have myself and Deputy Calhoun in the back and what we're doing is asking people from the Meridian area to bring out a new unwrapped toy and give it to one of the deputies or Marines."
The Christmas Parade will start Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in downtown Meridian.
The parade route starts:
23rd Avenue at 11th Street
South to 8th Street, take right
Then left on 25th Avenue
Left at Front Street
Then left on 22nd Avenue
Then end at 13th Street
