A vehicle struck a five-year-old boy early Wednesday morning near the Cedar Bend Apartments on Highway 80 West. He apparently pulled away from his sister and ran into the path of a car.
"If the parents would take more responsibility for the children and see they are standing out here and watching with their children to catch the school bus, things like this could be avoided," said the driver, Shirley Gardener. "I am just thankful to God that the boy is not hurt, because it would kill me. They need to think about that."
Apparently, the child was not seriously hurt. The incident is under investigation by Meridian Police.
