For the last several days, the Ralph Morgan Rodeo Arena has been a whirlwind of activity. Signs are being hung, food and soda have been delivered, and every nook and cranny is getting the once-over to make sure it's all set.
"It's just good family entertainment, you know. A lot of kids come here. We have a calf scramble for the kids and everybody enjoys a rodeo," said Ralph Morgan. "There's not many people that don't like a rodeo."
Ninety-seven cowboys and cowgirls are competing in the rodeo this weekend. Three trailers full of stock will be part of the event, roughly 175 animals all brought in for your enjoyment.
"People just want to all get together on the weekends, you know, and this is a good event. It's a good clean event. We don't sell any alcoholic beverages so kids are safe here and we have things for the kids to do," said Lib Morgan.
"They can run around and see and they might want to be one of these stars and this could be their dream," said Linda Clayton. "And so, when they see them, this may be like looking at their idol in the arena."
"One time he gave away so many tickets, I said Ralph, we might as well just have a free Rodeo. And he said we might just do that. He'll always do this. If he had to have a free one, he would because he just loves people that much."
Tickets are $10 for an adult or $6 for kids under 12. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and Grand Entry is at 7:30 p.m. for the rodeo Aug. 12 and 13.
