The remains were found Wednesday in an area where workers were digging a pipeline in Clarke County. Investigators say it appears the remains had been buried there for years.
Right now investigators say they do not know if foul play is involved or if the area was just an old gravesite.
The pipeline is being dug near Highway 514 in Clarke County. The body was found less than a mile from the highway.
Sheriff Todd Kemp says they are now in the process of trying to identify the remains. He says it could take some time to find the rest of the body, identify it and figure out how it got there.
Anyone with any information on a possible graveyard in the area is asked to call the Clarke County Sheriff's Department at(601) 776-5252.
