Authorities have now released the name of an inmate found dead in his cell over the weekend.
Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun said Oscar Fernandez Mosley was found by correctional officers during a routine security check around 3:00 p.m. Saturday.
Mosley was taken to Rush Hospital in Meridian, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
"At this point in time, the Meridian Police Department is doing a death investigation. An autopsy is pending and it will be later on, probably several weeks, before we will know the results of that autopsy and know a cause of death."
Officials say Mosley was from Louin, Mississippi, and was serving time on a charge of receiving stolen property.
