The state of Mississippi will borrow $25 million to shore up a program
to repair unstable bridges throughout the 82 counties.
Gov. Ronnie Musgrove and State Aid Engineer Brooks Miller said Tuesday the money will be added to $15 million available through the Mississippi Department of Transportation.
Miller said the money will be repaid from federal bridge repairs money allotted to Mississippi. He said the money would replace about 80 bridges ready for work.
Miller said there are about 3500 bridges statewide considered unstable.
