Officials in Newton County said Wednesday a "person of interest" is being held in connection with a homicide.

47-year-old Charles Wash, of Decatur, Miss., was found shot to death in his truck in the Lawrence community Monday night.

The Newton County Sheriff's Department has not formally charged anyone in the case.

A murder charge is expected to be filed Thursday. The sheriff's department said it has not recovered a weapon related to the crime.
