The Mississippi Department of Transportation has revised its announcement of a temporary closure of the Interstate 20 eastbound rest area in Scott County. I

It was originally supposed to re-open at 5 p.m. Apr. 18. But the Mississippi Department of Transportation said Thursday, due to unforeseen circumstances, the time of closure for the rest area has been extended until April 23 at 5 p.m.

The purpose of the closure is to allow Southern Pine to complete utility work at the rest area.

MDOT said it regrets any inconvenience this necessary work may cause.
