Mexican bullfights planned for Newton have been delayed until at least next year.
The owner of Newton's 'Mexico Lindo Mexican Restaurant' is sponsoring the authentic but bloodless bullfights that were planned for November.
But because of problems getting equipment through customs, the bullfights have been postponed until March 2006.
"Here's the promise to come back as soon as possible, to bring the bulls here," said bullfighter Marbella Romero, speaking through Loera, who translated for her.
"When my father was younger, he fight. And then I see bulls at my home all my life. Then one day I fight with a little bull and I love my profession," said bullfighter Jacobo Hernandez.
The Newton Chamber of Commerce hosted a reception for the bullfighters, who were in town getting ready for the first show, originally set for Nov. 12.
Full refunds are available to those who already bought tickets.
