The Mississippi Forestry Commission has issued a burn ban for most counties in the WTOK viewing area.
"There's a lot of debris out there now," says MFC spokesman Bill Kitchings. "Due to relative humidity being so low and the high temperatures, things are clearing out pretty fast, and we're asking that the public not do any outdoor burning at this time."
With sufficient rain not expected for at least another two weeks, Kitchings say it's unknown when the burn ban will be lifted.
