The city of Meridian's proposed budget for fiscal year 2006 was discussed at a public hearing Tuesday.
Chief Financial Officer Ed Skipper says this proposed budget is similar to the current one.
"The proposal is not significantly different. There are some differences from the current budget. This proposal did not have a tax increase proposal," said Skipper. "It does not have a garbage fee increase proposal. It does have a three percent increase on water/sewer bills, proposed in order to continue operation of the water/sewer fund as it should be operated."
Skipper says the budget also includes funding for five new public works positions, two new police officer positions and a subsidy from the general fund to the new parking garage facility and to Lakeview Golf Course.
